Rummy Tips and Tricks: 8 Useful Tips for Beginners

Rummy is a mix of luck and skill. These 8 tips can improve your game, but remember - no tip can guarantee a win.

1. Make the pure sequence first

2. Discard high cards early

K, Q, J and 10 cost 10 points each. If they do not fit any group, discard them early.

3. Use jokers wisely

Do not throw jokers away. Use them to complete an impure sequence or a set.

4. Watch your opponents' discards

The cards your opponent picks up and throws away tell you a lot about their hand.

5. Drop on a bad hand

If your opening cards are scattered and you have no joker, paying the drop penalty can be better than losing the full points.

6. Keep regrouping your cards

Rearrange after every turn so that you never discard a useful card by mistake.

7. Do not rush the declaration

A wrong declaration costs the maximum penalty. Check every group once.
