Gin Rummy and 21 Card Rummy: Rules and Differences from Indian Rummy
September 30, 2026 · Yono Rummy
Besides Indian Rummy there are many other fun forms of the game. Here are two popular ones.
Gin Rummy
Usually played by 2 players with one deck. Each player gets 10 cards.
- Cards are arranged into sets and runs called melds.
- Cards outside melds are called deadwood.
- If your deadwood is within the limit (usually 10 points) you can knock.
- If every card is melded you call Gin.
21 Card Rummy
Every player is dealt 21 cards. More cards give more ways to form groups, but also need more planning. The conditions for a valid declaration depend on the platform, so read the in-app rules before you play. See 21 Card Rummy.
